WEA is an Approved VET FEE-HELP Provider!

WEA is delighted to provide VET FEE-HELP eligible courses for its existing and new students, for all full qualifications at Diploma level and above. With already many payment options available, this is another option for our students who are studying courses with higher fees to defer their payment through the loan program without needing to pay any fees up-front unless they choose to.

What is VET FEE-HELP?

VET FEE-HELP is a Commonwealth supported loan scheme that helps eligible VET students pay their tuition fees for higher-level VET qualifications, and pay the loan back when their income reaches a manageable level.

Who can use VET FEE-HELP?

You are eligible to use VET FEE-HELP if you are enrolled in a full qualification course at Diploma level and above. You must also be an Australian citizen or a permanent humantarian visa holder who is resident in Australia for the duration of your unit/s of study.

Do I have to pay the loan back?

Yes. You will pay the loan back when your taxable income reaches the compulsory repayment threshold for that financial year. As an example for the 2015-16 income year, you will need to make a compulsory repayment if your income is $54,126 or above. This changes on the 1 July each year and is published on the Study Assist website. Repayments are made through the Australian taxation system (when you lodge your tax return), but you can also make voluntary repayments at other times if you wish. For further information consult the VET FEE-HELP information booklet at the Study Assist website.

Is there a limit to how much I can borrow?

Yes. Over the course of your lifetime you can borrow up to the FEE-HELP limit, which is adjusted each year and is available on the Study Assist website.

Is there more I need to know?

Yes definitely. It is important that you understand your obligations prior to enrolling. You should read the VET FEE-HELP Information Booklet at the Study Assist website, and talk to us about any questions you have.

You also need to consult our Terms and Policies, so you understand what conditions apply to your enrolment.

You should also read the fine print below which is also in your Course Information Booklet:

  • VET FEE-HELP assistance is a loan from the Commonwealth;
  • The loan may affect (by reducing) the person’s take-home (after-tax) wage or salary until the debt is repaid, and may affect the borrowing capacity of the person until the debt is repaid to the Commonwealth;
  • The signed Request for Commonwealth Assitance form applied to a loan for the entire VET course of study, charged on a unit by unit basis, unless the student pays some of the tuition fees;
  • Census date(s) will apply to each of the VET units of study in which the person enrols, with the student taking out a loan for any tuition fees that remain unpaid at the end of each census date;
  • A student may cancel their enrolment by:
    • Withdrawing from each VET unit of study on or before the census date; and
    • In accordance with the provider’s withdrawal policy;
  • Withdrawal will result in the student:
    • Not incurring a VET FEE-HELP debt; and/or
    • Receiving a refund for any up-front tuition fee payments made on or before the census date; and
  • A student may wish to seek independent financial advice prior to applying for a VET FEE-HELP loan
