Who can apply to become a trainee?

Trainees can be any age. They can include employees who may be new to the business (new entrant) and in some industries existing employees may be eligible.

What is involved?

Traineeships require a partnership between the trainee, the employer, a Registered Training Organisation (WEA Hunter) and an Australian Apprenticeship Centre (AAC). WEA Hunter creates an individually tailored training plan and monitors delivery and progress in conjunction with the workplace supervisor. The AAC advises the employer on any matters regarding the contractual obligations surrounding traineeships.

What costs are involved in the training?

WEA Hunter offers fee-for-service Traineeships so costs are variable depending upon the qualification.

Modes of Delivery

WEA Hunter uses innovative training practices to deliver to its trainees, and the mode of delivery is usually determined by the employer and employee depending on what will best suit their needs.

Facilitated E-Learning Traineeships

Trainees access their training material and activities on line and receive support directly from their trainer, through individual email, phone calls, workplace visits and discussion forums. This mode of delivery may also give trainees the opportunity to network with other trainees in their industry.

Distance Learning & Workplace-Based Traineeships

Trainees receive hard copies of learner guides and their main contact with the trainer is through regular individual workplace visits
