Kobudo – Bo (Okinawan weaponry – long staff) for beginners

Kobudo is the counter-part of karate with weapons. The 6-foot staff (rokushaku bo) is the main weapon learnt by a kobudo practitioner. The training is based on the forms (kata) handed-down by the great martial art masters in Okinawa Island of Japan, the birthplace of Karate. This course is designed for a student to develop strong basics in kobudo, while developing his/her overall character.

Please note:

  • Wear comfortable /moveable clothing
  • Students will require a 6 foot staff (called a bo). They can buy a bo from a Martial Arts Supplies store for approx $50
  • Optionally you can buy a 6 foot long, 1 inch diameter wooden dowel from a hardware store for approx $25 (may lack durability)
