Why and How?

In the complex world of global investing, it is important for many to feel confident they are making sound, ethical decisions about their savings and investments. In this course we will learn the three essential criteria needing to be met to ensure ethical investing – namely environmental, social and financial. We will cover both theory and practical-tips from the fascinating now-mainstream practice of ethical investing, debunk myths and explain jargon. The five-week course will look at social and historical issues along with techniques including portfolio screening (negative and positive), best of sector and engagement/advocacy. The course will interest those aware of the current global fossil fuel ‘divestment and reinvestment’ campaign and wishing to explore the vital role money plays in the climate change debate. the tutor authored “Confessions of ethical inve$ting” has worked in financial services, PR/marketing (investor relations) and 15 years' personal experience investing ethically. Particpants do not need any prior investment experience.
