Historic East End Walking Tour

A fascinating journey into the early history of Newcastle.

This is a walking tour taking in some of the most historic sites of the East End of Newcastle. We will start at Customs House and visit the Convict Lumberyard, Newcastle Hospital sites, James Fletcher Asylum, Christ Church Catherdral & finish at the Old Police Lock Up.

  • A medium health & fitness ability is required to be able to walk for the total length of the tour.
  • Please wear comfortable walking shoes & a hat and bring your own water for drinking.
  • Meet at the fountain in front of Customs House at the bottom of Watt St. Newcastle.

At WEA Hunter we offer a wide variety of Business, Lifestyle & Leisure courses at various locations throughout Newcastle and the Hunter Region. Course enrolment must be accompanied by a fee; we are unable to hold places for people or accept deposits on Lifestyle courses. Once enrolment is completed students will receive a course confirmation either in writing or by email. This course confirmation constitutes a receipt.

There is a room directory located at each venue directing you to your classroom. Vending machines are located at both Laman & King street venues and parking fees will apply.
