Abseiling at Gap Creek!

This abseiling program takes place in the Gap Creek area of Watagans National Park, and occurs in natural rainforest. Abseils are interesting and challenging and a short section of canyon will be included which includes 2 swims and a jump of 6m into a clear, cool waterhole. Depending on group progress, this session finishes with a descent down Gap Creek Falls (45m).

  • Session is delivered by a qualified and experienced tutor in a great bush location and students always find this a rewarding program.

Please note:

  • Should you be unsure about the weather conditions and possible cancellation, or have any other questions, please contact Peter Vaughan Mobile – 0404878332.
  • All students MUST phone Peter after 7am on day of the course to confirm it is going ahead.
  • Participants are to meet at the corner of Mt Faulk Rd and Freemans Drive (north of Cooranbong) at 8.30am.
  • All necessary abseiling equipment will be supplied and your guide will be carrying emergency communication devices and a comprehensive first aid kit.
  • The security of valuables such as car keys, wallets, cameras, and any personal gear is the responsibility of each client.
  • There is no mobile service coverage at the site.

You will need:

  • Suitable clothing that allows freedom of movement
  • Hat (preferably with a brim) or cap
  • Windproof/waterproof jacket
  • Enclosed sturdy footwear
  • Small daypack to transport own gear
  • Sunscreen/sunglasses
  • 1-2 litres of fluid to stay hydrated
  • Cut lunch
  • Snacks
  • Personal medication that may be needed (eg asthma puffer)

WEA Hunter offers a wide variety of Lifestyle & Leisure courses at various locations throughout Newcastle and the Hunter Region.
Course enrolment must be accompanied by a fee; we are unable to hold places for people or accept deposits on Lifestyle courses. Once enrolment is completed students will receive a course confirmation either in writing or by email. This course confirmation constitutes a receipt.

Please check your confirmation letter to ensure you have the correct time, date and location of your course as well as any necessary requirements. There is a room directory located at each venue directing you to your classroom. Vending machines are located at both Laman & King street venues and parking fees will apply.

Please choose carefully as WEA Hunter does not issue refunds of fees paid except in circumstances where WEA Hunter cancels a course – in which case students are entitled to receive a full refund. Alternatively if a course cancels WEA Hunter will transfer the student into another course with no administration charge.
Please contact one of our friendly staff if you have any enquiries or need to make any changes to your enrolment. Please note any changes need to be made at least 5 days prior to course commencement.

It’s your time…enjoy it!
