Celebrating lifelong learning in Adult Learners' Week

WEA Hunter will celebrate the value of education in our community during Adult Learners' Week 2017 with a range of free courses and demonstrations, Open Days and a special award ceremony.

Adult Learners' Week is part of an international festival of adult learning and will be celebrated by WEA Hunter from Monday 4 to Thursday 7 September 2017.

Activities include:

Daily Free classes/demonstrations

Try a range of fun and educational activities in areas including Soy Melts, Introduction to Spanish, Jazz Dance and Children’s Picture Books. To book into any one of these activities please do so here

Monday 4th September, 3pm Celebration of the WEA 200: Legends of Learning Scholarship program.

This program is supported by local people and businesses by providing a $200 scholarship for a person who might not have been able to access education previously.

Tuesday 5th September, 10am to 12pm Alesco Senior College Open Day.

The college is a secondary school, set within an adult learning environment. It is a school that offers students the opportunity to complete the Higher School Certificate in a supportive environment which focuses on programs to meet individual students learning needs.

Wednesday 6th September, 10am to 12pm WEA Hunter Open Day.

Career move or learn something for fun – WEA Hunter has hundreds of accredited training and short lifestyle courses.

Thursday 7th September, 5.30pm WEA Hunter Awards

Five people who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to learning and education will be named as the winners of WEA Hunter’s 2017 Awards.

All activities will be held at WEA Hunter’s Laman Street Campus in Cooks Hill.
